Priorities for Smithfield Schools

  1. Investing in the Future. Working to accomplish the goals set forth in the district’s capital improvement plan. Proactive and cost-effective investments in the SPS buildings and grounds will prolong the life of the facilities creating long term savings for the town.

  2. Collaboration. Fostering a transparent and collaborative relationship with all stakeholders including: the superintendent, town council, town boards, administrators, educators and parents.

  3. Student Wellness. Promoting proactive approaches to ensure Pre-K-12 students develop the social-emotional skills to be healthy, confident students.

  4. Professional Development. Supporting teacher-driven professional development and collaboration.

  5. Civic Engagement and Community Service. Expanding opportunities for students to become involved in the community.

  6. Alternative Paths to Success. Providing students expanded opportunities to learn about and prepare for post-secondary career opportunities.

  7. Sufficient Funding. Striving to ensure that the necessary funds are available to provide the resources, services and staff that will support innovation and provide high-quality education to all students.

  8. Revenue enhancement. Seeking opportunities in the district to help supplement cuts in state aid.
